23 representatives of universities from Moldova and Ukraine are visiting Varna University of Management in Varna.
The study visit is part of the project “Integrating Dual Higher Education in Moldova and Ukraine (COOPERA)”, implemented under key activity 2 “Capacity building in higher education”, ERASMUS + program and will continue from May 30 – 1- June 2022

The visit is part of the project’s activities aimed at supporting the integration of dual higher education in Moldova and Ukraine. After the conference program and the training panels focused on VUM’s bachelor’s degree programs in culinary arts, on the second day the guests had the opportunity to “experience” the concept of dual education. They were hosted by the Culinary Arts Institute, where under the expert guidance of Chef Hugues Boutin, Chef Stanislav Kubarev and Chef Kaloyan Kolev, university representatives prepared traditional Bulgarian cuisine – bread, Shopska salad, kavarma and strawberry cake.

VUM is one of the few universities offering programs based on the ideas of dual education – curricula include both standard theoretical training and mandatory internships in a partner company depending on the specialty. The advantages of this form of education are many, especially for the students themselves, who in addition to receiving extra pay in most cases, also gain practical experience in a real work environment during their studies. As a result, they enter the labor market prepared, which in turn allows them to start better work for higher pay. From a broader perspective, the dual form of education also plays an important role in the economy of the country that implements it, having a direct impact on reducing youth unemployment with all the benefits that come with it.
