A Transformative Learning Experience with Chef Petko Kostadinov
Our first-year culinary students had the exceptional opportunity to participate in a practical pastry-making class led by the highly experienced Chef Petko Kostadinov. This comprehensive session provided students with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to develop essential skills crucial for their future culinary careers.
The class covered a wide range of techniques fundamental to the art of pastry, including:
- Preparing short dough, the foundation of many classic desserts
- Crafting smooth and versatile pastry cream, a key element in numerous confections
- Creating rich and perfectly textured buttercream
- Mastering the preparation of Crème Anglaise, a versatile custard used in both desserts and sauces
- Learning the intricate process of mousse-making, ensuring the right balance of flavor and texture
- Combining all these elements harmoniously to produce an elegant, peanut-based individual dessert
The session emphasized the importance of precision, creativity, and the ability to integrate multiple techniques into a single cohesive dessert. Such practical experiences are a cornerstone of our culinary program, helping students transition from theoretical learning to real-world application. This approach builds their confidence and equips them with the skills necessary to succeed in the competitive and dynamic field of gastronomy.
We are deeply grateful to Chef Kostadinov for sharing his expertise, passion, and time with our students. His mentorship not only enhances their technical abilities but also inspires them to strive for excellence and innovation in their craft.
This session is a testament to the university’s commitment to providing exceptional learning opportunities and preparing the next generation of culinary professionals for a successful future.
