Step 1: Application Form

Please complete the application form (on the bottom of this page) and send the following documents via e-mail at admissions@vum.bg:
High School/University Certificates/Transcript (min. 62% of the highest mark in 2 subjects)
Proof of English Language Proficiency (Institutional Exam at Varna University of Management, TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent to B1 level in accordance to the European Language Frame)
Passport/ID Copy
Curriculum Vitae (Résumé)
Motivation Letter
Employment Reference Letters (if available)
Copies of official documents are accepted. However, original documents may be requested. Missing documents will be noted on the provisional letter of acceptance. Information about any missing documents should be given to the Admissions Office at the time of application.

Provisional Acceptance/ Conditional Offer
The Admissions Office considers potential students’ full profile, including academic records, personal motivation, work experience (if any), any letters of recommendation, as well as the interview results.
If the application is successful and the requested course is still available, the Provisional Letter of Acceptance/ Conditional Offer will be sent within one week. For more information see Application and Admission procedures.

Do you offer placements?

Each student has the option to apply for a placement in Michelin star restaurants for the period up to 12 months during their studies at CAI or any other university programme offered at Varna University of Management.

What are my career opportunities after graduation?

Upon graduation every alumni becomes a member of our Alumni Network.

All graduates get free access to our Job Board where employers from all over the world, assessed by VUM, advertise their current job openings. The recruitment and placement is free of charge for VUM’s graduates.
Free access to all international career fairs, held by VUM.
All students and alumni get free access to the libraries of VUM (excluding the e-library). They also get free access to the articles, textbooks, journals, published by VUM. Priority information and participation in events organized by VUM.

What is the language of instruction at VUM?

All classes are taught in English.

What is the duration of the course and what kind of degree I will get?

Studies at “VUM” are extremely flexible.

Varna University of Management offers two academic degree programmes in the field of Culinary Arts:

Gastronomy and Culinary Arts programme

  • 6 semesters of academic studies at the university plus up to 12 months placement, in total 4 calendar years.
  • After successful completion of the academic studies, the students are awarded with Professional Bachelor Degree in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts issued by Varna University of Management.

Hospitality and Culinary Arts programme – Double Degree

  • 8 semesters of academic studies at the university plus up to 12 months placement, in total 5 calendar years
  • After successful completion of the academic studies, the students are awarded with:
    • Bulgarian Bachelor Degree in Hospitality and Culinary Arts issued by Varna University of Management.
    • British Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Management issued by Cardiff Metropolitan University, the UK.
What are the facilities at VUM?

All of the premises is designed in the most ergonomic way. Contemporary environment will welcome you every day. The kitchen which we are using is equipped in cooperation with the producers of equipment for some of the iconic 2 Michelin star restaurants worldwide (Menu System, Pordamsa, Rational, etc.).
The essence of cooking lies within great equipment and the best seasonally available food products. Independent working stations will give you the comfort zone to create and learn.
Innovative pastry kitchen, laboratory and sensory analysis place will help you gain knowledge in the field of contemporary culinary arts.

What is the tuition fee structure and do you offer scholarships?

The tuition fee per year is EUR 3000 (local EU students), EUR 3900 (international students) – including food and books. Fee for uniforms, professional knives set, shoes – EUR 600 (one time payment).
Scholarships are offered after the first year of studies at VUM. The amount of the scholarships depends on the academic performances at VUM.

Do you offer accommodation?

The students’ residence is conveniently situated on the campus of VUM, in the city center of Varna. The amount of the rent in the dormitories of VUM is €400 for 5 months (per bed in a room with shared bathroom. The rooms have either two or three beds and are fully furnished.
