Culinary Arts Institute visit to the prestigious ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine
It was a great opportunity to visit the world renowned ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine in Colorno, Italy, where our Culinary Programmes Director Hugues Boutin together with Chef Instructor Vasil Yakimov discussed different collaboration options with the hosts.
ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine is hosted in the magnificent Ducal Palace of Colorno, located in a beautiful Italian-style garden. The school is 10 km from Parma, the heart of the Italian Food Valley, and awarded by UNESCO as the Creative City of Gastronomy, where also EFSA – the European Food Safety Authority is located.
The school is Italy’s first and foremost professional training centre for the international hospitality and restaurant industries and trains chefs, pastry chefs, sommeliers, waiters, bartenders and managers to work in the restaurant industry all over the world.
The school is equipped with the most advanced teaching equipment for learning about the latest new techniques as well as the wisdom of tradition and the practice and culture of food, product of the knowledge of raw materials and territories in the world of Italian food and wines.
ALMA’s instructors include top Italian chefs and pastry chefs whose achievements have been acknowledged by the world’s greatest restaurant guides and experienced academic consultants who hold residential seminars.
The tour around the ALMA facilities was in the frame of 4th Steering and Evaluation Committee and Expert Workshop under the CULINART project, which was held in Reggio Emilia, Italy. During their visit Chef Boutin and Chef Yakimov shared the vision for further development of the Culinary Arts Institute at Varna University of Management and exchanged information ideas on collaboration activities, student exchange and joint project development that to enhance the learning opportunities and skills of the students of both schools.
